Power Systems

  • Planning
    Small electrical companies with an expanding electrical load lack the capacity to support planning and budgeting initiatives. We assist companies to create short and long term infrastructure expansion plans, purchase and implement modeling systems and train staff in the technical and economic analysis needed for future projects. We assist companies to overcome obstacles, such as electricity theft, pre- and post-paid metering, scheduled load shedding, aging infrastructure and skilled staff deficiencies.
  • Engineering
    Experienced engineers who understand the problems facing small utilities and power companies in countries lacking a developed power sector are often unavailable. Our staff includes engineers capable of providing civil and electrical engineering services for small and mid-size power infrastructure facilities. These include transmission and distribution systems, control systems and small generating stations from 500 kW to 50 MW.

    It is difficult to find companies that understand the challenges and risks to successful investments in developing countries. We support investors by conducting market analyses of the power sector and put people on the ground to facilitate the investment and develop relationships with supporting companies and government agencies. We can identify the best technology options that can be supported by local staff and logistical infrastructure. We have experience with both ESCO and IPP models using many different generation technologies, including diesel, HFO, solar PV hybrids, and wind turbine generators. Jeff Norman
Jeff NormanCHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Jeff has worked throughout the world on a portfolio of projects ranging from economic analysis in developing markets to electrical infrastructure in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa and North America. He has worked in some of the most challenging environments, including Afghanistan, Iraq and the Balkans. He has authored and contributed to several papers and presentations for public and private entities covering topics including value chain development, fuels and power system management, power plant investment analyses and reliability metrics for utilities.

Jeff’s previous positions include Director of Capital Planning for the Saudi Aramco power system, an Economic Advisor for the US Government in Afghanistan and Vice President for Renewable Energy Projects for InfraSource, LLC in North America. Jeff is a veteran of the Iraq war and served in the US Marine Corps. He has completed graduate programs in Business Administration at the Ross School of Business, Finance & Accounting at the Wharton School and Engineering at the University of Illinois.

James Saldana
James SaldanaMEDIA TECHNOLOGY CONSULTANT
James has 30+ years of experience working in Africa, Balkans, Middle East and Central Asia on projects ranging from aviation operations manager in support of UN and African Union forces in Darfur Sudan to the design and deployment of logistical management systems used to track the movement of 100 million kg of air cargo per year into Afghanistan in support of American and ISAF forces.

James has also led media projects as an accredited journalist to document conflicts in the Balkans, Israel, Palestinian West Bank, and Iraq.

He is a veteran of the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division and possesses a B.F.A. in Art and Design and an M.A. in Mass Communications and Media Arts.
